West Virginia Pharmacy Technician State Requirements – Board of Pharmacy Technician Guidelines states the following requirements for becoming a pharmacy technician:
-There are two ways to become a new pharmacy technician in West Virginia:
  (1) Complete national certification (PTCB or ExCPT) and complete 20 hours of training with a pharmacist
  (2) Register as a technician trainee with the board, complete a 2080 hour training program with a pharmacy, and pass the West Virginia pharmacy technician exam
-Complete pharmacy technician application, pay $25 fee
-I recommend completing an online program, obtain national certification, then apply for a position with a pharmacy that can get you the 20 hours of training (this will get you to being a technician quicker and make you more competitive for jobs)
