Florida Pharmacy Technician State Requirements- Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration Instructions states the following requirements for becoming a pharmacy technician:
-Complete pharmacy technician registration application
-Pay $105 application fee
-Complete a board-approved pharmacy technician training program. The training program needs to be approved by one of the following: American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP), Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), Florida Commission for Independent Education (CIE), Council on Occupational Education (COE), a military program, or Florida Board of Pharmacy. (this is a new requirement as of 2011, please check with the program you are considering to ensure they meet one of the listed requirements)

Online/Correspondence Pharmacy Technician Training Programs – Due to the new 2011 requirements, I have not found any online programs that are approved.

  1. Hi Katie, for PTCB it does not matter where you take it. The issue with Florida is that they require formal training by an approved program.

  4. Typically not, it is okay for states that do not require formal training, but where formal training can help you learn the business and be good for your resume.
