Arizona Pharmacy Technician State Requirements – Board of Pharmacy Technician Guidelines does require that individuals pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT). If you haven’t passed one of these tests, you apply to become a Pharmacy Technician Trainee. If you have passed one of these examinations, you apply to become a Pharmacy Technician. To Become a Pharmacy Technician Trainee:
-Complete the Arizona Board of Pharmacy Technician Trainee Application.
As part of the application you must include proof of:
* A high school diploma or equivalent
* US citizenship
* An Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card. The application directs you to the website to obtain one.
-Pay license fee of $46 for trainee license (once PTCB certified, then you pay a prorated fee to become a pharmacy technician)
To Become a Pharmacy Technician:
– Complete the Arizona Board of Pharmacy Technician Application.
As part of the application you must include proof of:
* Proof of passing the PTCB or ExCPT
* A high school diploma or equivalent
* US citizenship
* An Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card. The application directs you to the website to obtain one.
– Pay license fee, between $19 and $52 depending on the time of year ( or how long it is until you have to renew your license and pay the renewal fee).
Once you are a pharmacy technician, Arizona requires 20 hours of Continuing Education (CE), that includes 2 hours of Pharmacy Law, will be required every two years.
